The model was originally designed by Tomaso Buzzi for Venini in 1933 for the series of animals in "lattimo" glass and silver (see M. Barovier, Tomaso Buzzi alla Venini, Milan, Skira, 2014, pp. 293 and 302). Remaining within the production of the factory, it is revisited during the years of his artistic direction of the furnace by Scarpa, who worked on "lattimo" glass from 1936 (for the XX Venice Biennale and the VI Milan Triennale) onwards and he added crystal applications and gold leaf to the model. The model is depicted in a vintage photo alongside other milk glass objects.
